Under: Things You Won't Find on Amazon

At some point, Amazon got so good at getting you exactly what you wanted that we almost forgot how fun the thrill of the hunt can be. Enter antique malls. And lucky for y’all, Texas does antiques like we do everything else, BIG. While almost every town from the Rio Grande to Hill Country have their small mom and pop shops (tell us your favorites!), two big’uns do antiques, fleas, and markets like nobody else:

  • Round Top, which twice a year turns a tiny town between Austin and Houston into the biggest antiques fair in the country, hundreds of dealers spread across fields and tents and old barns, just bursting with Texas treasures. Round Top gets people driving in from everywhere, cash in their pockets, and truck beds to fill.

  • Then you've got Canton, the First Monday Trade Days, which has been going on since the 1850s and doesn't show any signs of stopping. It’s the world’s largest flea market (how Texas is that?). This is the big time, Canton has 450 acres of vintage gold, trendy treasures, and some screaming deals. Get there!

Go find your nearest antique mall. Wear comfortable shoes. Bring cash, water, and a little patience. Leave your phone in your pocket as much as you can. Something in there is waiting on you, you just don't know what it is yet. And the best part? You don’t have to wait two days for it to arrive!
